Laws of scarcity production
pots, foam, acrylic pen on exterior acrylic lacquer
The discourse of “we/us vs. them/other” creates seemingly insurmountable boundaries. But who shapes them? Who draws the separation lines? It is not the mass media controlled by the powerful, but rather algorithms controlled by the powerful. Fueled by identity politics and technology's misdirection they introduce fresh fractions of "them" every day.
Challenges and resolutions are pre-established and serve as enticing bait to the hungry ones, who find themselves in opposing stances, yet united on a sinking vessel—an embodiment of the "us-and-them" dilemma.
Using objects and materials easy to find in every household, the work Laws of scarcity production traces the trajectory of the crisis as it shifts from regulated capitalism to necrocapitalism, accompanied by the ecological catastrophe linked to it. The timeline passes through three lives: the artist´s (1981 – 2040), grandmother’s (1921 – 1980), and great-great-grandmother’s (1860 – 1920).
