Clouds

A personal newspaper archive commissioned for Steierische Herbst 2025, references Ernst Toller’s play "No More Peace". In this play, Napoleon and Francis of Assisi discuss humanity while sitting on clouds. I sort the newspaper clippings into categories represented by clouds. Approximately 77 newspapers from Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Croatia were used. I was interested in popular press with the highest circulation, but also in those I had never encountered in my bubble: right-wing dailies or Jewish monthly magazines reporting on the massacre in Gaza. For the first time, I read Turkish newspapers and The New York Times, which are easily accessible in our Berlin Kreuzberg.
